Wright 3rd Graders are Santa’s Helpers
Courage is a trimester-long Artful Learning unit based on a stained glass Masterwork by Grant Wood.
Students study Courage through their literacy, math, science and social studies curriculum, in addition to learning about courageous individuals, famous or local within our community.
Students learned about individuals with challenges and how they use courage to overcome those challenges. From those who have autism to those who are fighting cancer to those who are hungry, it takes courage from those individuals or those who can help to make a difference.
After creating pendants for the Beads of Bravery program at Blank Children’s Hospital, students wanted to do more to help their community.
After researching things that they could give that don’t cost money, they determined they could help at the food pantry, assist with Meals from the Heartland and make lap blankets and sing for a senior center. They did all of this in ONE DAY. Thanks to donations this trip was possible.
