ABSENCE PROCEDURES
When your child is absent from school, please send a note or call the school office at 242-8442 to report the absence.  Include your child’s name, the date, your name and a simple explanation for the absence.

AFTER SCHOOL INSTRUCTIONS
Please have a plan in place for your child after school and instruct your child before school of any changes to the plan.  In case of emergency changes, please call the school before 2:00 p.m., so that we have time to get a message to your child’s teacher. Calls after 2:00 p.m. are at risk of not getting relayed in time.  You may also email your child’s teacher directly about any changes or concerns. Email links are available on this website.

BICYCLES
4th and 5th graders may ride bicycles, with a permission form on file in the office.

CHECK OUT & IN
It is important for all students to be checked out through the office before leaving the campus and checked back in during the school day. A note sent to the teacher is helpful, but it is still necessary for parents to sign out their child in the office.

DROP OFF AND PICK UP
Please do not park in the loading zone in the front of the building. We will move cars through as quickly as possible. In the morning, pull all the way forward and have your child exit on the curb closest to the building. In the afternoon, stay in your car and pull all the way forward as the lane moves continuously. The staff will direct your child to enter the car from the curb side closest to the building.

EMERGENCY INFORMATION
The individuals you list as contacts in case of an emergency must be persons other than parents. This important information is essential for health and safety and helpful in connecting school and home. We would appreciate any updates to this information if changes occur during the school year.

FOOD SUBSTITUTIONS
If your child requires a food substitute for meals served in the school lunch program, a medical statement must be filled out by a recognized medical authority. The medical statement must provide a recommended substitution. Forms may be obtained from the school nurse.  Once the medical statement has been completed, it is to be filed at the school with a copy provided to Food Services. The request for food substitution and the medical statement must be renewed each school year.

MEDICATIONS
No medication is to be brought to school without clearing it through the office first.  This includes aspirin, allergy pills, inhalers and even cough drops. Prescription drugs and over the counter medicines need a form signed by the physician and parents on file. If you have any questions, please call the school office at 242-8442.

VISITORS
We welcome parents and volunteers on campus. We are fortunate to have a small school where many people know each other, but for safety reasons, everyone must sign in at the office with a valid ID and pick up an identification badge. This procedure helps to safeguard our students. Thank you for your cooperation.

WEATHER
Information regarding changes in the school schedule due to inclement weather is available on cable channel 12 between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Local radio and television stations also broadcast bulletins when schools, child care centers and adult education programs are closed or delayed because of weather conditions or other emergencies.
