Wright Elementary celebrates its first annual Big Arts Week!

As an Artful Learning School, the arts are celebrated each day in the classroom, but this week Wright made it BIG!  With performances by the Drake Saxophone Quartet, the Lincoln High School Omega Show Choir, the Lincoln High School Jazz Band and vocalist Tyler Jensen (the brother of teacher, Courtney Jensen), the week was filled with energizing music and dance.  Wright fourth grade students, coached by Des Moines Ballroom, performed the Tango, Merengue, Rumba and Waltz for the student body.

In a collaborative effort Wright’s art and PE teachers, Chloe Fontanini and Tricia Dyer, worked with all students K-5 in creating clay creations that will become a school-wide Masterwork with the concept of Transformation.  Ultimately, the student works will be installed on the schoolyard fence for community enjoyment.
